Not having a whale of a time on Thanksgiving

Fin Whale

This 67 ft. fin whale washed up on San Diego shores this week after reportedly being struck by a ship. The whale will be towed 20 miles out to sea Friday morning and sunken. Cameras will be attached to the carcass to enable researchers to observe the fish feed on it and monitor the degrading process. The female whale was pregnant at the time, and crowds gathered on Fiesta Island watched researchers examine the remains. Rare fin whales can reach up to 70 tons, and are an endangered species.

Now that the conclusion is that it was ship strike, that makes this situation even more tragic. Obviously, some kind of 3rd world rig. I mean, this was a 67 foot object! I would hope that others appreciate the enormity of this animal the gentleness of her nature. I am angry more than anything that people would joke about this loss. Thank you Mr. Branson for giving her the dignity she and her calf deserve. To the rest of you that think this is funny and a joke, your time is coming too and perhaps sooner than you think.
